An rare intaglio carving in Carnelian of a ship and a fortress tower or lookout cliff top tower.
Pinchbeck fob. Measuring 38mm tall and 30mm wide.
Possibly depicting a 'Martello tower' built to defend against France under Emperor Napoleon between 1745-1827. These towers were placed at regular intervals along the coast from Seaford, Sussex, to Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
